Trump cancels scheduled strikes on Iran, says deal close to signing

US President Donald Trump cancelled a third consecutive day of strikes on Iran, claiming a deal with Tehran is near finalization. Meanwhile, the International Rescue Committee warns that thousands displaced by Israeli attacks in Lebanon are at a 'breaking point'.

On June 12, 2026, US President Donald Trump cancelled a third consecutive day of planned strikes against Iran. He stated that a deal with Tehran is close to being finalized and that the 'time and place of the signing' will be announced shortly. Earlier, Trump had warned that Iran would be hit 'very hard' and threatened to seize Iran's Kharg Island and other oil infrastructure.

Separately, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) warns that thousands of people displaced by Israeli attacks in Lebanon are at a 'breaking point', highlighting the worsening humanitarian crisis in the region.
