Transfer gossip: Man Utd and Liverpool circling Palace's Mitchell
Wednesday's transfer rumours claim Manchester United and Liverpool are both tracking Crystal Palace left-back Tyrick Mitchell, while Liverpool are set to reappoint Julian Ward as sporting director.
The latest round of transfer gossip from British media points to several Premier League clubs already eyeing future business, even with the transfer window closed.
Interest in defenders and midfielders
Crystal Palace's 27-year-old left-back Tyrick Mitchell is reportedly drawing growing attention from both Manchester United and Liverpool. Meanwhile, Aston Villa attacking midfielder Alejandro Garnacho, who joined on a summer loan from Chelsea but has struggled to make an impact at Villa Park, is said to be attracting interest from clubs in Spain's La Liga. Bayern Munich are also reported to be interested in Nottingham Forest and England midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, 26.
Change on the horizon at Liverpool
According to reports, Liverpool are preparing to bring back Julian Ward, 45, as sporting director, moving him from his current role as Fenway Sports Group's technical director. Ward previously held the sporting director post during the 2022-23 season and would now replace Richard Hughes.
Rice contract and other deals
Arsenal are expected to use the September international break to finalise a new long-term contract for England midfielder Declan Rice, 27, in line with the club's approach to key players under manager Mikel Arteta. Liverpool remain committed to getting the best out of German attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz despite Bayern Munich reportedly sounding out his representatives. Chelsea are said to be monitoring 15-year-old Gambian midfielder Adama Jeng, who is also attracting interest from other European clubs. Elsewhere, AC Milan and Roma are reportedly keen on a loan move for Real Madrid's 20-year-old Brazilian forward Endrick, while Barcelona have scouted 19-year-old Brazilian defender Arthur Dias.
