“Servant of the People” initiates dismissal of EU integration committee head, but no decision will be made

Deputy Andriy Motovylyovets submitted a draft resolution to remove Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze as head of the EU integration committee, but it will be withdrawn and replaced with a procedurally invalid one as a political gesture.

On June 11, a draft resolution was registered in the Verkhovna Rada proposing the dismissal of Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze as chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the European Union. The document was submitted by Andriy Motovylyovets, first deputy head of the “Servant of the People” faction. As of the time of reporting, the full text had not been published.

However, Motovylyovets told European Pravda that the draft would be withdrawn shortly. Instead, the faction plans to register a new document signed by numerous co-authors. The MP emphasized that the proposal is merely a political gesture, not a genuine attempt to force Klympush-Tsintsadze’s resignation. The draft was deliberately filed in violation of parliamentary procedure: under current law, a motion to remove a committee chair must be submitted either by the committee itself or by the speaker of parliament.

This move is a response to an earlier initiative by the “European Solidarity” faction, which on the same day registered a similarly legally unpromising draft resolution to dismiss the head of the Budget Committee, Roksolana Pidlasa. Motovylyovets stated that “Servant of the People” could not leave this without a political response.

Earlier this week, the Rada also adopted a resolution expressing parliamentary support for EU accession negotiations and passed a controversial “European integration” bill on judicial reform.
