Tanzania Tests Fly Larvae for Waste Processing
Tanzania is experimenting with fly larvae to process waste, which could also help reduce expensive animal feed costs.

Tanzania is actively developing a sustainable solution to tackle its massive waste problem by using insects. Specifically, fly larvae are being tested to process organic waste efficiently. This approach not only reduces the volume of waste in landfills but also produces a byproduct that can serve as animal feed. Given the high cost of conventional feed, this method could offer significant economic benefits for farmers. The country is currently refining the technology to enable large-scale implementation.
