Tallinn installed a modular bomb shelter on Thursday in the green area at Juhkentali 10, marking the first such shelter placed in public urban space in Estonia. The shelter was donated to the city by construction company Citysec Industry and is based on a standardized reinforced concrete design used in Ukraine, developed to provide short-term protection for residents during emergencies.

Made of reinforced concrete, the shelter's structure is designed to mitigate risks from explosions, shockwaves, and flying debris. Its modular design allows for quick relocation, expansion, or installation in different locations as needed.

This demonstration shelter aims to give city residents a better understanding of where and how to seek shelter during a crisis. It is part of a pilot project through which the city will assess the solution's practicality, ease of use, public awareness, and suitability for the urban environment. Based on the experience gained, the city will decide on next steps and whether to introduce the solution more widely.

The project is carried out in cooperation with government agencies and partners.
