Photo exhibition-installation on defense of Ukraine's Chasiv Yar opens in central Tallinn

A traveling photo exhibition-installation called "Chasiv Yar. The Unburnable," created by Ukrainian servicemen, has opened at Uus-turg square near the Estonia theatre in central Tallinn. It was made by soldiers of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade "King Danylo" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and depicts the courage and resilience of Ukrainian defenders of the city of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region, as well as the realities of their everyday life amid full-scale war, according to the Tallinn city government's press service.

Tallinn Mayor Peeter Raudsepp (Isamaa) said it is a great honor for the city to host an exhibition dedicated to the resistance of Ukraine's defenders. He noted that the exhibition is a reminder that the war in Ukraine concerns all of us and the whole of Europe, and that it helps people grasp the real cost of the war and the importance of supporting Ukraine. The mayor called on residents to visit the exhibition and said Tallinn will continue contributing to Ukraine's support.

Photos from the front line

The photographs on display were taken by Oleh Petrasiuk, a press officer of the 24th Brigade and documentary photographer, who captured soldiers' lives, combat operations and the aftermath of war directly at the front. A special part of the exhibition is an installation in which photographs are mounted on fragments of metal fencing brought from the combat zone near Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region, damaged in Russian attacks. Together, the documentary photographs and authentic materials from the war zone form a unified whole that conveys the realities of war more directly.

The exhibition is part of a European tour that previously stopped in Kyiv, Vilnius, Stockholm and Norrköping, and after Tallinn it will continue to other European cities. It will remain on display at Uus-turg square until mid-August.

Hosting the exhibition is part of Tallinn's ongoing support for Ukraine and its people. Since the start of the full-scale war, the city has provided humanitarian aid, necessary equipment and vehicles to Ukrainian cities and communities, and has carried out various cooperation and training projects.
