Submissions for Supernova, the music contest organized by Latvian public media (LSM), closed on October 1, with a total of 125 songs entered. The winner of the contest will represent Latvia at next year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Selection process

A jury will choose from among the submitted songs which contestants move forward in the competition for the right to represent Latvia. However, the final decision will rest with the audience: viewers will determine, during the Supernova final, who will represent Latvia at Eurovision next year.

Largest final in the contest's history

This year's Supernova final will take place on February 6 at Xiaomi Arena, and organizers say it will be the largest edition of the contest to date. The artist chosen in the final will go on to represent Latvia at Eurovision, which will be held next year in Burgas, Bulgaria.

With 125 songs submitted, competition is expected to be strong this year, as the jury must narrow down a wide field of entries before the process reaches the final lineup of contestants, whose fate will ultimately be decided by viewers' votes.
