Spain's King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, and their two daughters participated in a mourning ceremony at the San Javier air base in Murcia on Friday, July 11, 2026. They observed a minute of silence for the victims of a wildfire in southern Spain that claimed at least 11 lives.

During the ceremony, the king said: "From this place, located some 150 kilometres (90 miles) from where this tragedy occurred, we want to convey our condolences, our affection and our support to all those who have lost loved ones."

The royal family's gesture demonstrated solidarity with the affected communities and underscored the monarchy's role in national mourning.
