Plastic surgeon Alexander Aslani shot dead at his clinic in Spain
Alexander Aslani, a 57-year-old internationally known plastic surgeon, was shot dead at his clinic in the Spanish resort city of Marbella. Police have detained an 18-year-old suspect, and the motive is still unclear.

Alexander Aslani, a 57-year-old plastic surgeon and founder of the Cirumed clinic, was shot dead shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, 7 October, in the Spanish resort city of Marbella. Patients were in the clinic when the attack happened. On Thursday, 8 October, Spain's National Police detained an 18-year-old man on suspicion of killing him.
How the attack unfolded
According to the local newspaper Sur, a man dressed in black with his face covered walked into the office where the doctor was seeing a patient. Without saying a word, he fired several shots at close range and fled the scene on a motorcycle. The surgeon could not be saved.
The investigation
Investigators are still working to establish the motive and whether anyone else was involved. Radio network Cadena SER reports that theories of revenge linked to a medical procedure have not been publicly confirmed so far.
Who Aslani was
Born in Germany, Aslani was an internationally known surgeon with more than 25 years of experience and more than 15,000 procedures performed. Patients from over 40 countries had been treated at his clinic, and he had about 200,000 followers on Instagram. He was best known for body and buttock contouring surgery.
A friend of the doctor told Sur that he was extremely dedicated to his work and often stayed at the clinic until 11 p.m. On the day he died, Aslani had also carried out several operations. He leaves behind his wife and two daughters, one of whom is a minor.
