Elon Musk's aerospace company SpaceX has priced its initial public offering (IPO) at $135 per share, according to Reuters. The company sold 555.56 million shares, raising a record-breaking $75 billion and achieving a total valuation of $1.77 trillion.

This valuation exceeds the market capitalization of giants like JPMorgan Chase, Berkshire Hathaway, Eli Lilly, Meta Platforms, and even Musk's own Tesla. The previous IPO record was held by Saudi Aramco, which raised $25.6 billion in 2019 at a $1.71 trillion valuation.

In the offering, SpaceX allocated an unprecedented 30% of shares to retail investors. However, founder Elon Musk retained tight control, holding 82% of voting rights post-IPO.

Founded in 2002, SpaceX defines its mission as "making life multiplanetary." The company estimates its total addressable market at $28.5 trillion, calling it the largest in human history. Nevertheless, analysts point to financial risks: last year the company posted losses due to heavy AI investments, and its revenues are significantly smaller than those of other market leaders. Intense competition from Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin in space commercialization and government contracts also poses challenges.

"Financial forecasts are uncertain due to dependence on a large number of government contracts. People buying these shares are investing in the future and humanity's expansion beyond Earth, not just in a company," said Kim Forrest, chief investment officer at Bokeh Capital Partners.

The IPO preparation took months: SpaceX confidentially filed with the SEC on April 1, 2026, published its S-1 form on May 20, and by June 9 demand had exceeded supply fourfold, reaching $250 billion.
