Finnish President Stubb to Donate Erdogan's Revolver to Museum
Finnish President Alexander Stubb has decided to donate a revolver gifted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to a museum, as Finnish firearm laws require a valid reason for keeping firearms

Finnish President Alexander Stubb has decided to donate a revolver gifted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to a museum. According to the Finnish president's office, the weapon was initially handed over to the police.
Stubb expressed his wish to transfer the revolver to a museum, with the Military Museum being a possible option as it collects exhibits related to Finland's military and arms history.
Under Finland's current firearm law, keeping a firearm requires a valid reason, such as sport shooting. If President Stubb had wanted to keep the weapon, he would have needed to obtain a permit or deactivate the revolver.
Similar issues arose for other leaders. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer left the gift in Turkey because bringing combat firearms into the UK is illegal. Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever only discovered the contents after returning home and had to leave the revolver with law enforcement at the airport. Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal also had to leave the revolver in Turkey as Estonian laws did not allow him to bring it into the country.
