Finland's men's floorball top division, the F-liiga, continues to see tight competition for table positions, with Espoo's Oilers standing out in particular.

Oilers show no mercy

The Espoo club celebrated its third consecutive win in round three, crushing league newcomers from Jyväskylä 12:2 on the road. Before this match, the newcomers had looked solid, collecting five points from three games and sitting mid-table, but they proved no match for their stronger rivals. Espoo had already scored three goals by the end of the first period, and the lead kept growing throughout the match. The top scorer notched four goals and an assist, while another player contributed three assists. Oilers have now scored at least ten goals in all three of their games this season.

Classic overcomes a rough patch

Tampere's Classic, who opened the season with a loss to the defending champions, unexpectedly struggled against a poorly-performing Turku TPS side. In the first meeting between the two, the home side built a three-goal lead, but their opponents clawed back using power plays. Although Classic restored a three-goal gap in the third period, the visitors, playing without a goalkeeper, scored twice more and came close to equalizing in the closing seconds. The hosts nonetheless held on for a 6:5 win.

In the second meeting, held in Turku, the spotlight fell on Classic forward Ville Lastikka, who scored twice and reached a milestone — his 300th career goal and 500th point in the league, 200 of which are assists. With this result, TPS have now lost three of their four games this season.

Other results

Meanwhile, Hawks suffered a painful defeat in a rivalry clash with EraViikingit, who scored three goals in a single minute during the third period to seize the lead and win 4:3. EraViikingit followed up with a second straight win, beating JYMY 10:4 on the road, where a young player stood out with two goals and two assists.
