This year, 355 high school graduates in Latvia will receive the Latvian Centenary Scholarship, announced the Ministry of Finance (MoF). The one-time scholarship of €750 is being awarded for the ninth consecutive year since its creation to mark the centenary of Latvia.

Graduates were nominated by their general and vocational secondary education institutions. Criteria include academic achievements, active community service, civic engagement, participation in artistic and sports activities, and contributions to the development of the school. If a school had more than 50 graduates in a given program, it could nominate two candidates.

Over the nine years, more than 3,000 young people have received the scholarship, noted Edgars Putra (AS), Parliamentary Secretary of the MoF. The program's sustainability is ensured by public participation in the Centenary Lottery organized by "Latvijas loto". The support program is implemented by the MoF, the Ministry of Education and Science, and "Latvijas loto".

The MoF confirmed that the project will continue in the 2026/2027 academic year, allowing schools to continue nominating their most talented and socially active graduates.
