Skujiņš finishes 23rd in world championship road race, Liepiņš does not finish

Latvian cyclist Toms Skujiņš placed 23rd in the world championship road race in Montreal, while Emīls Liepiņš, who spent much of the race in a breakaway, failed to finish.

Two Latvian cyclists took part in the world championship road race held in Montreal on Sunday.

Toms Skujiņš completed the race in 23rd place, delivering one of the stronger recent results by a Latvian rider at an event of this stature.

Emīls Liepiņš took a more aggressive approach, spending the majority of the race in a breakaway ahead of the main peloton. Despite his active ride, he was unable to complete the course.

The two riders represented Latvia at the prestigious world championship, which brings together the strongest road cyclists from around the globe.
