Skrapcis finishes with main pack at Belgian cycling race
Latvian cyclist Emīls Skrapcis finished with the main group at the "Omloop van het Houtland" race in Belgium, which was won by Belgian rider Tim Merlier.
A one-day road cycling race, "Omloop van het Houtland", took place in Belgium over a course of just under 190 kilometers on flat terrain. Most of the distance was split into two circuits, which riders completed multiple times.
Belgian rider Tim Merlier of Soudal Quick-Step proved fastest in the finishing sprint, crossing the line in four hours, ten minutes and 25 seconds. Merlier also won the race last year. Polish rider Stanisław Aniołkowski of Cofidis took second place, while Dutch rider Dylan Groenewegen of Unibet Rose Rockets finished third.
Latvian cyclist Emīls Skrapcis finished with the main pack, racing for the Energus team. Fellow Energus rider Kārlis Klismets did not finish the race.
Latvia's national road race champion, Mārtiņš Pluto, did not take part in this event, as he is currently preparing for the world championship.
This year's edition marked the 79th running of the "Omloop van het Houtland" race.
