Forecasters promise: after rainy days, a sunny and warm autumn week is coming
Latvia will see rainy, windy weather in the second half of this week, but forecasters expect an anticyclone to bring dry, sunny conditions next week that could last into October's second week.
Residents of Latvia still face changeable, rainy weather in the coming days, but meteorologists say a pleasant stretch of dry, sunny autumn weather is on the way.
Rain and wind persist for now
A cyclone will shape the weather in the second half of this week, bringing rain to many areas, sometimes heavy. Winds will blow from changeable directions and turn gusty at times. Nighttime temperatures will range from +5 to +12 degrees, reaching up to +14 in some coastal areas, while daytime highs will stay between +10 and +17 degrees.
An anticyclone will bring dry weather
Next week, and possibly into the second week of October, an anticyclone is expected to dominate, meaning little precipitation and only occasional cloud cover. Winds will be light, blowing from the east and south.
Temperature forecasts still vary somewhat. On cooler nights, a light frost cannot be ruled out in eastern regions, while on warmer afternoons temperatures in some areas — most likely in Kurzeme — could exceed +20 degrees.
According to the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, next week in Latvia will be two to three degrees warmer than normal for this time of year, and October overall is forecast to be somewhat warmer and drier than usual.
