Sigulda Zoo welcomes two Amur tigers rescued from Lithuania
Two male Amur tigers removed from Klaipėda Zoo over inadequate conditions have found a new home at Sigulda Zoo in Latvia. The animals now need time to adjust before visitors will be able to see them.
Sigulda Zoo has welcomed two new residents — male Amur tigers brought from Lithuania. Both animals were previously removed from Klaipėda Zoo, where they had been kept in inadequate conditions.
After being taken from the zoo, the tigers spent about a year at a wildlife rescue centre before being relocated to their new home in Latvia.
The tigers will now need time to settle into their new surroundings. Visitors to Sigulda Zoo will likely be able to see them only after some time, once the animals have adjusted to their new environment.
