Sibiha Declares 'Spirit of Anchorage' Dead
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that the so-called 'Spirit of Anchorage' is dead, urging Russia to respond to Ukraine's proposals for real negotiations to end the war.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has commented on Russia's accusations that the US is deviating from the agreements of the 'Spirit of Anchorage.' In a post on X, Sybiha emphasized that no one outside Russia truly understands what Moscow means by this concept.
"Reality clearly shows one thing: if the 'Spirit of Anchorage' ever existed, it is certainly dead now. For Russia, the lesson of Anchorage is that any peace plan developed without Ukraine's participation is doomed to disappear like a ghost," the minister stated.
Sybiha added that Moscow should stop believing in spirits and instead respond to Ukraine's serious proposals to sit down at the negotiating table and end the war. "The longer Putin refuses to recognize reality – namely, that he will never achieve any goals on the battlefield – the worse it will become for Russia," Sybiha said.
Earlier, Moscow complained that the US is no longer an 'objective mediator' in the talks regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war and reminded of the agreements reached in Anchorage. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio later stated that during last year's summit between President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, no agreements regarding Ukraine were made. According to media reports, Trump signaled at the G7 summit that he might abandon the so-called 'Anchorage understanding.' Additionally, Trump publicly expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian president is 'doing quite well' in the war, a notable shift in his rhetoric throughout his second term.
