A major fire has broken out at the historic Miller mansion in central St. Petersburg, close to St. Isaac's Cathedral, according to local outlet Fontanka.

The blaze has been given a second-alarm classification, indicating its significant scale. No casualties have been reported so far.

The mansion dates back to the 19th century and holds status as a regional architectural heritage site.

Redevelopment plans

Earlier in 2026, developer TAS obtained a 768-million-ruble loan to fund the building's restoration. The project envisioned converting the mansion into an exclusive residential complex with apartments, with completion targeted for 2027.

It remains unclear how the fire might affect the restoration and conversion plans, or the building's protected heritage status.
