Talsi municipality has announced the retirement of Iveta Sēruma, the longtime organiser of cultural events in Sabile, who began working at the Sabile culture house on 1 February 1982.

With some interruptions, most of her professional career has been devoted to building and developing cultural life in the Sabile area. For close to 30 years, Sēruma's work, creativity and persistence have enriched cultural life in Talsi municipality, producing events that bring residents together and shape the town's distinctive character.

The municipality notes that almost anyone familiar with Sabile also knows Iveta — someone who did not merely organise events but managed to create genuine celebrations, marked by care and a high standard of quality.

Ties to the Wine Festival

Of particular note is the Sabile Wine Festival, one of the town's best-known events, with which Sēruma has been associated for many years. The festival has become an important calling card for Sabile, drawing thousands of visitors annually and carrying the town's name well beyond the borders of Talsi municipality.

The municipality emphasises that behind every successful event lies a great deal of work and a person who believes in what they do. Sēruma is described as a creative figure able to inspire others, engage the community, and strengthen residents' pride in their town, finding solutions even in seemingly difficult situations.
