Robertson's contract talks with Stars to begin only in December
The Dallas Stars of the NHL will start talks on a long-term deal with forward Jason Robertson around 1 December. A club representative, Nill, wants to avoid unnecessary distractions early in the season.

The Dallas Stars, a US club in the NHL (North American hockey league), plan to discuss a long-term arrangement with forward Robertson only in early December. The statement came from a club representative, Nill. It means the 27-year-old American forward's long-term future with the team remains unsettled until then.
"I think I'll wait until the beginning of December. I don't want to create unnecessary distractions. It's important to start the season well, and around 1 December I'll sit down with his representatives to see whether we can agree," Nill said.
One-year deal
Robertson was a free agent this summer but could not agree with the Stars on a long-term contract. He instead signed a one-year deal worth 12 million US dollars, which helped avoid arbitration.
Production
Last season Robertson was Dallas's top scorer. In the regular season he collected 96 points (45 goals and 51 assists) in 82 games. In six Stanley Cup playoff games he scored five goals and added three assists.
The forward has also started this season productively, collecting seven points (4+3) in the first seven games. The team, after two losses at the start of the campaign, has won four of its last six games.
