Residents and visitors of the Latvian capital will not have to pay for public transport or for parking in the city this weekend, as Riga celebrates its city festival.
The free-of-charge arrangement was confirmed by Inese Rozīte, a representative of Rīgas satiksme, the municipal public transport operator. According to her, the measure will apply throughout the festival weekend.
The move is intended to make it easier for people to get around the capital while attending festival events, and to help ease the strain of car traffic in the city centre during the celebrations.
