Topping-out ceremony held for five new buildings in Riga's Centrus quarter
Five new buildings are being constructed simultaneously in Riga's Centrus quarter, together offering more than 150 apartments. A traditional topping-out ceremony marked the buildings reaching full height in the project's second development stage.
A topping-out ceremony has been held for the second development stage of the Centrus quarter in Riga's historical centre, located between Blaumaņa, Dzirnavu, Tērbatas and K. Barona streets. Five buildings are being built at the same time — four of seven storeys and one of five storeys — together comprising more than 150 apartments, with commercial space on the ground floor of every building.
Now that the buildings have reached their full height, the bulk of the work is shifting to facade construction, engineering systems, interior work and finishing, as well as landscaping of the quarter's grounds and promenade.
A unified urban environment and investment
Developer Centrus Real Land says the goal has always been to create not just residential buildings but a complete city quarter where people live, meet, visit cafes and shops, and relax while enjoying the advantages of Riga's centre. Once finished, the quarter will feature a landscaped courtyard, a pedestrian promenade, recreation areas, and a two-level underground car park with more than 400 spaces.
Total investment in the project's second stage will reach 30 million euros, of which 25 million euros is jointly financed by BluOr Bank and Signet Banka.
A representative of construction company MONUM noted that building five structures simultaneously in a dense, busy part of central Riga requires precise planning and logistics, aimed at shortening construction time and reducing disruption for residents and businesses nearby, including those already living in the completed first stage of Centrus.
Following an old construction tradition, a festive wreath was raised to the highest point of the building during the ceremony. The event was attended by representatives of developer Centrus Real Land, contractor MONUM, the quarter's property manager, construction supervisor BLV Advisory Group, architecture firm Layout17, other project partners, the construction team and guests.
