Mobilization centers open across Latvia to gather reservists for training
On Saturday, August 8, Latvia's National Armed Forces opened mobilization centers at Riga's Teika Secondary School as well as in Valmiera, Kuldīga and Alūksne, where citizens who signed up for voluntary reserve training gathered.
On Saturday, August 8, Latvia's National Armed Forces (NBS) opened a mobilization center at Teika Secondary School in Riga, where citizens who had previously signed up for voluntary reserve soldier training arrived.
Similar centers began operating the same day in Valmiera, Kuldīga and Alūksne. These serve as collection points from which registered reservists will be transported to the Infantry School in Alūksne.
Three weeks of training
At the Infantry School in Alūksne, the arriving reservists will spend three weeks learning basic military skills. The training aims to prepare volunteer citizens so they can serve as reserve soldiers if needed.
The simultaneous opening of mobilization centers in several Latvian towns points to a coordinated effort to gather reservists and transport them to their training location.
