Woman injured in serious Riga crash seeks witness who filmed fleeing BMW driver
After a serious collision near a ramp on Lāčplēša Street in Riga, injured driver Dana and her relatives are looking for a man in a green jacket who filmed and photographed the BMW driver who fled the scene. The witness is asked to contact her family or the State Police.
A woman named Dana, injured in a serious road collision near a ramp on Lāčplēša Street in Riga, is searching with her relatives for a witness. They are looking for a man in a green jacket who filmed and photographed the driver of a BMW who fled the scene after the crash, according to the 360TV programme "Sadursme 360". The incident took place on a Monday morning between 8:55 and 9:00.
How the collision happened
Dana recalls that the BMW appeared suddenly in front of her. The car crossed a green area at high speed and slammed into the vehicle she was driving. She remembers only the car's grille and lights, and the next thing she recalls is calling for help. She still cannot understand how such a crash could happen in a place where cars are not supposed to drive. According to her, the BMW driver was meant to continue down the bridge but instead drove straight across the green area.
After the collision Dana was in shock and phoned her husband, who was in Saldus at the time. During a video call he saw his wife in tears and her badly damaged car.
Injuries and aftermath
Dana sustained several injuries: wounds and abrasions, an injured elbow and shoulder, and her seat belt left marks on her body. During treatment, medics removed shards of glass from her wounds. She is still recovering, and the sounds, images and sensations of the crash keep returning to her memory.
The search for the witness
Dana recalls that the man in the green jacket approached her and assured her that the incident had been recorded and the material would be handed to police. In her words, he told her the fleeing driver had been filmed and photographed from all sides.
Relatives have managed to contact another witness, who ran after the driver who fled. They are still looking for the man in the green jacket to thank him for his actions at such a difficult moment. He is asked to contact Kārlis on 25422570 or turn to the State Police by calling 112.
