Riga's renovated Zemitāni Bridge reopens with six lanes and new transport hub

The Zemitāni Bridge in Riga has completed its reconstruction, putting an end to the era of a 30-km/h speed limit and cracked asphalt. Builders finished the work on schedule, giving the Latvian capital a renewed transport artery.

The rebuilt bridge now has six traffic lanes and a fresh road surface. Significant changes were also made to how passengers transfer from trains to city public transport, with new outdoor escalators installed to ease movement between different modes of transport.

A Kiss&Ride system has also been set up, allowing private vehicles to drop off and pick up passengers quickly and conveniently without adding to congestion. LSM correspondent Andrejs Hutorovs personally visited the renovated hub and tested its new features.

With the reconstruction complete, Riga residents and visitors now have access to upgraded infrastructure that improves traffic flow across the bridge while making transfers between rail and city public transport more convenient.
