On September 9 and 10, Riga will host the conference "Cultural Research for Future Choices" (Kultūras pētniecība nākotnes izvēlēm). The event marks the conclusion of a Culture Ministry national research programme project titled "Cultural Capital as a Resource for Latvia's Sustainable Development," known by the abbreviation CERS, which ran from 2023 to 2026.

Who the event is for

Over the two days, the conference is expected to bring together a broad range of participants whose work is directly connected to the project's research findings, as well as others with a general interest in the subject. Expected attendees include professionals from the culture sector, policymakers, students, other researchers, and anyone interested in Latvia's cultural and artistic life.

Focus of the discussions

The conference title points to its central theme: examining what benefit cultural research brings to society and science, and how such research can inform future decisions. The event will bring together insights gathered during the CERS project regarding cultural capital as a resource that can support Latvia's sustainable development.

The conference will take place in Riga and is intended as a gathering point for everyone who considers cultural research important for the development of Latvian society and science.
