Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Wednesday that Russian armed forces will increase the intensity of strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure. According to him, this step is aimed at 'discouraging' Ukraine from further attacks on targets within Russian territory. Putin's remarks came in response to recent Ukrainian strikes on several Russian regions, including energy facilities and military sites.

The statement comes amid growing international calls for de-escalation. However, Putin emphasized that Russia will continue to use military force to defend its borders and deter its adversary. The exact scale and nature of the intensified strikes were not disclosed, but analysts predict it may mean increased pressure on Ukraine's energy grid.

Ukrainian officials have not yet officially commented on Putin's threats, but they have previously stressed that Ukrainian forces have the right to defend their country, including by striking targets on Russian soil. The situation on the front remains tense, and international observers warn of potential escalation. Western nations continue to provide military support to Ukraine, asserting that Russian threats will not change their stance.
