Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has once again expanded the staff of the central apparatus of the Federal Protective Service (FSO). The relevant decree, published earlier in the official Russian legal gazette, comes into force on July 1.

The exact number of FSO employees is restricted information, but according to unofficial estimates, the service may employ up to 50,000 people. The FSO is responsible for providing security to top Russian officials and their families, primarily Putin himself.

Over more than a quarter of a century since Putin came to power, the FSO has significantly strengthened its positions and influence. This latest move indicates an intensified focus on the protection of the country's leadership and security measures.
