French club Paris Saint-Germain defeated Aston Villa 2:1 in Salzburg, becoming only the third club in history to win the UEFA Super Cup in consecutive years.
Paris Saint-Germain defeated England's Aston Villa 2:1 in the UEFA Super Cup match held in Salzburg, Austria.
The two-time Champions League winner became only the third club in history to claim the Super Cup in consecutive years, according to UEFA's official website.
Georgian forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia put the Parisian side ahead in the 20th minute. Late in the first half, 17-year-old Bryan Majo equalized, becoming the youngest goalscorer in UEFA Super Cup history.
PSG sealed the win over Europa League champions Aston Villa thanks to a goal from Désiré Doué in the 61st minute.
Russian national team goalkeeper Matvey Safonov played the entire match in goal for PSG, while Ukrainian defender Illia Zabarnyi was named in the squad but remained on the bench throughout.
Before this, only AC Milan (1989 and 1990) and Real Madrid (2016 and 2017) had managed to win the UEFA Super Cup in consecutive years. PSG now joins that list with victories in 2025 and 2026.
