Prime Day Laptop Deals: Discounts of Up to $500

Laptop prices have risen noticeably over the past six months. A shortage of memory chips has disrupted the market to the point that Apple raised its prices in June. That makes the deals in Amazon's fall Prime Big Deal Days sale especially relevant for shoppers. A Wired reviewer has picked out several models from the many tested this year.

MacBook Air and Surface Laptop

Apple's MacBook Air (M5, 2026) is $200 off, bringing it to $1,099, its lowest price since June. It comes with 512 GB of storage and 16 GB of RAM. The discount covers every configuration sold on Amazon, including the larger 15-inch version. The reviewer regards it as both the best MacBook and the best laptop overall. The MacBook Neo and MacBook Pro are not seeing unusual discounts.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 13.8-inch (2026) is $500 off, the lowest price since its launch and $70 below its previous best. It uses the Snapdragon X2 Elite chip, which offers substantially better graphics performance than the previous generation. The 2024 version sells for $1,096, and the reviewer also lists it as a strong option.

Budget and gaming models

The HP OmniBook 5, with an OLED screen, slim body and good battery life, costs $750 on Amazon for the 16-inch version, compared with $780 at HP.com. The Amazon model has 512 GB of storage, twice that of the HP.com version. Its drawback is a weak touchpad.

The Lenovo LOQ 15 gaming laptop with an RTX 5050 is cheaper than it has been in many months, and its display offers good color coverage. A more powerful RTX 5060 model costs $1,499 at Walmart.

The Asus Zenbook A14 weighs 2.16 pounds, and the 2026 model is not discounted. The reviewer recommends buying the previous version, with a Snapdragon X Plus, 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.
