In Poland, man attacked by bison after getting too close, eyewitness saves him with car

A Polish resident named Grzegorz Ryński shared a distressing video on Facebook showing a bison attacking a man who had come too close to it. The incident took place in the Białowieża Forest, where Ryński and his wife unexpectedly witnessed the dangerous encounter.

According to Ryński, the man had failed to keep a safe distance and approached the forest's largest animal too closely. The bison reacted within seconds, knocking the man to the ground with a powerful blow. Witnesses immediately shouted at the victim to stay still, since the animal remained very close and any sudden movement could have triggered another attack.

Rescue by car

As the situation grew critical, Ryński decided to intervene, driving his car closer to distract the bison. The startled animal backed away slightly, giving the injured man a chance to get up quickly and leave the danger zone safely.

Ryński published the video, filmed by his wife, as a stern warning to nature lovers. He stressed that a bison is not a stuffed toy or a mascot but a wild animal that can weigh several hundred kilograms and become extremely dangerous when it feels threatened. He urged people to maintain a safe distance of at least 50 metres and never approach bison, even when they appear calm, warning that one careless decision could end in tragedy.

Nature conservation experts regularly remind visitors that even seemingly slow and calm forest giants can move with great speed and force when defending their territory, making extra caution essential near these animals.
