Poland Raises Aid for Buying a Beef Bull to 7,000 Zloty

Poland's agricultural agency ARiMR is accepting applications for aid to buy a purebred beef bull until 30 November 2026. Since 14 October the payment is 7,000 zloty per animal, 2,000 zloty more than before.

Farmers in Poland have until 30 November 2026 to apply for aid for buying a purebred beef bull. Since 14 October the payment has been 7,000 zloty per eligible animal, which is 2,000 zloty more than before. Applications go to ARiMR, the Polish Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture, which said in a 19 October statement that about 400 applications had been received so far.

Why the aid was increased

The ministry justified the rise by higher livestock prices. According to industry data cited earlier, the average price of a bull aged 16–17 months grew from about 12,000 zloty in 2023 to about 17,000 zloty in 2024.

Which bulls qualify

This year's round covers purchases made in 2025 or 2026. The aid applies to purebred beef bulls older than 13 months for which a zootechnical certificate has been issued. The applicant must have an identification number in the ARiMR register of producers, and the farm must meet the criteria of a micro, small or medium-sized enterprise. Aid for the purchase of the same bull can be received only once.

How many cows are required

Support covers one bull for every 15 cows. What counts is the average number of cows in the year before the purchase, not the current herd size: for a 2025 purchase the 2024 average is used, and for a 2026 purchase the 2025 average. ARiMR adds up the cows kept on the last day of each month and divides the total by 12, using data from the animal identification and registration system. For this aid, a cow is a female bovine aged at least 24 months.

The Polish Sustainable Beef Platform had pushed for changes for smaller herds, proposing proportional aid for fewer than 15 cows. Current ARiMR materials confirm the higher rate but not these additional solutions.

Documents and submission

Applicants should attach proof of purchase, a copy of the zootechnical certificate, and either certificates of de minimis aid received or the relevant declaration in section IX of the application. Where spouses share property, aid received by the spouse must also be counted. The de minimis limit is 50,000 euros per enterprise over three years.

The application goes to the ARiMR county office for the applicant's place of residence or registered seat, in person, by post or via the e-Doręczenia electronic delivery system. The application and attachments requiring a signature must be signed electronically.

Repayment if the bull is sold

If a bull is sold within 24 months of purchase, part of the aid must be repaid in proportion to the months remaining in that period.
