Polish police have detained a 36-year-old Ukrainian citizen for allegedly threatening President Karol Nawrocki online.

Polish law enforcement has detained a 36-year-old Ukrainian citizen who allegedly made threats against President Karol Nawrocki on the internet. According to Polsat News, the threats appeared on an online channel, prompting an immediate investigation.
Junior Officer Anna Baran from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Zielona Góra explained that authorities received material containing a published conversation in which threats against the head of state were allegedly made. "Upon receiving information about the published materials, investigators immediately located this man," Baran said.
The suspect is a 36-year-old Ukrainian citizen. "Yesterday, investigators detained a 36-year-old man who publicly made threats against the President of Poland via the internet," Baran added. On Saturday, the man was brought to the prosecutor's office.
He is likely to face charges of insulting a constitutional body of the Republic of Poland in connection with threats against the President. This act violates Article 226 of the Penal Code, which carries a fine or imprisonment of up to two years.
Notably, a recent public opinion poll in Poland showed a sharp rise in support for President Nawrocki, possibly linked to his decision to revoke an award given to the President of Ukraine. Nawrocki announced his decision on June 19.
