Second Air Alert Across Ukraine Overnight After Russian MiG-31K Takeoff
On the night of June 21, Ukraine experienced a second nationwide air alert due to a Russian MiG-31K takeoff, prompting missile danger warnings. The alert was lifted around 4:09 AM.
For the second time that night, on June 21, an air alert was declared across all of Ukraine following the takeoff of a Russian MiG-31K fighter jet. The Air Force stated that the alert was issued due to missile danger stemming from the MiG-31K. They reported a Kinzhal hypersonic missile heading from Chernihiv region toward Kyiv region. Subsequently, the missile passed through Kyiv region towards Zhytomyr and then continued towards Khmelnytskyi region, specifically Starokostiantyniv. Another "high-speed target" flew into Chernihiv region and then toward Kyiv region. Around 4:03 AM, regions began lifting the air alert, and the Air Force officially announced the end of the danger from the MiG-31K at 4:09 AM. Earlier that night, an initial air alert had been issued around 1:00 AM, also due to the takeoff of a MiG-31K.
