Riga Operetta Theatre prepares new production of "La Bohème in Paris" set in insect world
The Operetta Theatre is preparing a new production of the operetta "La Bohème in Paris," directed by Sonora Vaice and inspired by Imre Kálmán's "The Violet of Montmartre," with the action moved into an insect world.
The Operetta Theatre is currently working on a new, contemporary and highly original production of a classic operetta titled "La Bohème in Paris." Director Sonora Vaice drew her inspiration from Imre Kálmán's timeless masterpiece "The Violet of Montmartre."
An insect world on stage
At the heart of the new production is a whirlwind of human passions and emotions, but this time the story is told through an unusual lens – the world of insects. This concept will be highlighted especially through costumes specially created for the production's characters.
Music with a jazz twist
The well-known Kálmán score will be presented in a new jazz-style arrangement, offering audiences familiar musical motifs in a different interpretation.
