OpenAI teases custom macro pad for Codex, launching July 15 in partnership with Work Louder
OpenAI posted a video showing a square-shaped device with multiple buttons, hinting at a macro pad for its AI coding tool Codex, launching July 15 in collaboration with peripheral maker Work Louder.

OpenAI on Monday posted a teaser video on X, revealing a square-shaped device with several buttons and the caption: "Your favorite Codex shortcuts are getting an upgrade." The device is tied to OpenAI's AI-powered coding tool Codex and is set to launch on July 15.
This is not the mysterious AI-powered device OpenAI is developing with former Apple designer Jony Ive. Instead, the teaser indicates a partnership with Work Louder, a company that produces mechanical keyboards and macro pads with programmable keys, dials, and switches.
The device shown resembles Work Louder's Creator Micro 2, a macro pad featuring 13 mechanical switches, a joystick, and a touch sensor. Users can assign shortcuts and custom actions to the toggles for various apps, such as Photoshop. Similarly, design tool Figma previously partnered with Work Louder to release a macro pad with preconfigured shortcuts.
Neither OpenAI nor Work Louder have shared further details about their collaboration. With the launch just two weeks away, more information is expected soon.
