The Omoda 5, the brand's smallest model on the Latvian market, is a compact hybrid crossover roughly the size of a Nissan Qashqai, priced between €25,000 and €28,000. It offers an unusual design and a notably quiet, electric-car-like driving feel.
Omoda has introduced its newest model to the Latvian market - the Omoda 5 crossover, currently the smallest vehicle offered by the brand locally. In terms of size it compares to the popular Nissan Qashqai, while pricing ranges from €25,000 to €28,000. The car is available as a hybrid.
A design with surprises
The manufacturer gave the model a somewhat experimental appearance to draw buyer attention. At the same time, certain elements remain conventional - the door handles, for instance, are of standard design. The fuel filler cap, however, opens via a button inside the cabin, a solution reminiscent of what Japanese automakers once used.
Inside, careful attention to detail is noticeable, with seats featuring one-piece, sporty-looking backrests, while the number of physical buttons is limited, arranged conveniently on the center console within the driver's reach. The dashboard also hides a small surprise - an illuminated image of a small car, best seen in darker conditions.
Technical specifications and driving impressions
The Omoda 5 Hybrid uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine, which combined with the hybrid system produces a total output of 224 horsepower. Gear changes are made using a lever mounted on the steering wheel, while the brake pedal requires firmer pressure. The driving experience itself is nothing extraordinary, yet despite the petrol engine, the car gives the impression of driving an electric vehicle, since the engine noise is barely audible.
As for trim options, buyers currently have little choice - in its initial rollout on the Latvian market, the Omoda 5 is available only in a single, fully-equipped trim, even though the engine remains the same across versions. The manufacturer positions the model as suitable for those seeking more compact dimensions, while recommending other brand models, the Omoda 9 or Jaecoo 7, for larger families.
