Leak reveals upcoming HomePod mini, iPad mini, and Apple TV 4K
Details and images found inside Apple's own code point to a new HomePod mini, iPad mini 8, and Apple TV 4K arriving later this year. The leak was uncovered by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris.
Apple is expected to unveil another round of hardware before year's end, following the recent launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and the folding iPhone Duo. MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris has now found images and details buried in Apple's own software code pointing to three upcoming products: an updated HomePod mini, the iPad mini 8, and a new generation of the Apple TV 4K.
HomePod mini 2
Leaked images suggest the HomePod Mini 2 will keep a design similar to the original, which launched in late 2020. While the current model comes in bright colors such as orange, yellow, and blue, the new version appears to add more muted shades — green, pink, blue, white, and black — designed to blend more easily into home decor.
iPad mini 8
The iPad mini 8 will replace the seventh-generation model that launched two years ago, gaining Apple's A20 Pro chip — the same chip found in the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone Duo — in place of the previous A17 Pro. The leaked images only show the tablet's front, revealing that the front-facing camera has moved to the landscape edge, while a groove along the top of the display, similar to the iPhone's, hints at an added speaker. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman had previously reported that the next iPad mini could also gain improved waterproofing via a new vibration-based speaker, along with an OLED display like the larger iPad Pro.
Apple TV 4K
The current Apple TV is nearly four years old, but the newly leaked details don't reveal much about what the fourth-generation model will bring, beyond a design very close to its predecessor. Perris had previously reported a possible upgrade to the A17 Pro chip, while Gurman said in 2024 that the next Apple TV would use Apple's own Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip, now known as the N1.
