New fund set up to protect Jānis Streičs' legacy, led by his daughter Viktorija

One of the central concerns is the preservation of the original edited versions of Streičs' films — an issue considered significant given what it means for the future authenticity of his creative work.
A new fund for safeguarding the legacy
To address this, the Jānis Streičs Culture Fund has been established. Its chairperson is the director's daughter, film director Viktorija Streiča.
The fund's creation coincides with public commemoration both of Streičs' 90th birthday and of his recent passing. It is intended to serve as an ongoing mechanism for protecting the director's creative and cultural-historical legacy, including ensuring the availability and protection of the original versions of his films.
Viktorija Streiča's role as head of the fund means the task of preserving her father's legacy has been placed in the hands of family members who are closely familiar with his creative work and the challenges surrounding it.
