Newcastle midfielder Nobbs says too many draws held the club back from promotion last season, but after an active transfer window the team is no longer shy about stating its ambitions.
Under head coach Tanya Oxtoby, who previously managed the Northern Ireland national team and worked alongside Emma Hayes at Chelsea, Nobbs believes the squad continues to improve.
"I know we said it last season but I've always said things don't happen overnight. We had a lot of changes," Nobbs said. "But promotion is our goal and you have to say that out loud. A lot of what we did last season, we don't want to move too far away from."
A role beyond the pitch
Nobbs is also taking on responsibilities off the field, saying her team-mates jokingly call her a "legend" of women's football.
"I try to still be myself but give as much experience as I can off the pitch. I've played a lot of games now, so you do want people to listen to that," she said. "The girls straight away made jokes about me being a legend, which made it feel nice rather than like pressure."
She added that this has allowed her to grow into that role naturally, while still needing to balance it against her own on-field performance.
Newcastle's new season opens at home against Wolves on 6 September, kicking off at 14:00 BST.
