Pre-election silence period begins ahead of Saeima vote
From October 2 until the 15th Saeima election day on October 3, distribution of pre-election campaign materials in public spaces is banned, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) reports.

Starting Friday, October 2, Latvia enters a pre-election silence period that will last through Saturday, October 3 — the day of the 15th Saeima elections. The Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has announced that during this time, distributing campaign materials in public spaces is prohibited.
What the silence period means
The silence period is a defined window immediately before an election during which parties and their representatives may no longer conduct political campaigning. The restriction covers both days — the Friday preceding the vote and election day itself.
KNAB is the body responsible for overseeing compliance with this ban, monitoring to ensure that campaign materials are not distributed in public spaces during this period.
