Latvian emergency medical service warns against using AI for self-diagnosis

The State Emergency Medical Service (NMPD) has issued a public warning, calling on residents to be cautious about turning to artificial intelligence tools for health-related concerns.

Risks of AI-based diagnosis

According to the service, more people have been turning to AI tools for answers about their health conditions. NMPD stresses that recommendations generated by such tools are not reliable sources for determining a diagnosis and should not be used as a basis for deciding on treatment or whether to seek medical care.

Call to the public

The service urges people experiencing health problems not to rely on advice from artificial intelligence and not to use it as a substitute for consulting a qualified medical professional. Only a trained specialist, assessing a person's symptoms and medical history in person or remotely, can provide an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.
