Netflix uses AI-generated Gene Wilder voice in its Willy Wonka reality show
Netflix's new reality series "Wonka's The Golden Ticket" will feature an AI-generated voice of Gene Wilder, created with family consent.

A new teaser trailer has confirmed that "Wonka's The Golden Ticket" will premiere on Netflix on September 23rd. The voiceover in the trailer is not real but generated by artificial intelligence, replicating the voice of Gene Wilder, who played Willy Wonka in the 1971 film. Netflix worked with AI audio company ElevenLabs on this, and obtained consent from Wilder's family. This continues Netflix's use of ElevenLabs for recreating voices, following similar projects for Michael Caine and Stan Lee. The show itself is described as a "high-stakes social experiment" featuring 12 golden ticket winners and their chosen partners. One champion will remain after a week, with the two-part finale on September 30th. This reality series is separate from the upcoming animated feature "Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory" set for 2027.
