A month after devastating floods struck Nepal, restoration and cleanup works in the affected areas began on Monday, September 28, according to Edite Medne, head of the Consular Department at Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Among those still missing following the disaster are 33 Latvian nationals.
Hope fading, but families still wait
Speaking to Latvian Television, the daughter of one of the missing women, Eleonora, said that hope diminishes with each passing day, but the family will continue waiting until some word arrives from China.
Work to repair the flood-stricken areas is now underway in Nepal, while relatives back home continue to wait for news of their loved ones.
