Saturday is expected to bring partly cloudy skies to Latvia, with no significant precipitation expected. A light to moderate south-westerly wind will blow across the country, and air temperatures are set to reach +24..+29 degrees.

The weather pattern will begin to shift on Sunday. Brief rain is forecast locally, and thunderstorms are possible in the eastern region of Latgale. In the western coastal area of Kurzeme, south-westerly wind gusts could strengthen to 15 metres per second. Sunday’s maximum temperatures will be slightly lower, ranging from +19 to +25 degrees.

Next week, daytime temperatures across Latvia will generally stay between +18 and +23 degrees. At night, temperatures could slip below +10 degrees in some places. Winds are expected to remain mostly light, though a westerly breeze may become stronger at times during the second half of the week. Precipitation will mostly come as brief showers, with the risk of locally heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts indicate that Latvia’s average temperature next week is expected to be one to two degrees below the climatic norm. Precipitation totals are likely to be somewhat higher than the usual August amount. In the last week of the month, however, both temperature and precipitation are expected to return closer to long-term averages. Forecasters also predict that the approaching autumn will be warm.
