Weekend in Latvia to Stay Summery, Rain and Cooler Weather Expected Next Week
The weekend in Latvia will be mostly warm and dry, but from Sunday a cyclone will bring more clouds, rain and local thunderstorms, followed by cooler weather next week.
Latvia will still enjoy summer-like warmth and mostly dry conditions over the weekend, but the weather is set to turn more changeable from Sunday. According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, a cyclone will approach the Baltic region on Saturday evening, bringing more clouds, rain and locally thunderstorms on Sunday and at the start of next week. After several calm and warm days, conditions are expected to become more unsettled and slightly cooler.
On Friday, 14 August, the sky will be cloudier at night in most of Latvia, with fewer clouds in Kurzeme. The daytime will bring variable cloud cover and no significant precipitation. Winds will be light, but fog may form overnight in places in Kurzeme, reducing visibility. Night-time temperatures will drop to +11…+16°C, while daytime highs will range between +18 and +23°C, reaching +24…+27°C in many western and central districts.
Saturday is expected to remain dry. However, a precipitation zone will reach Latvia on Sunday morning, first bringing rain to Kurzeme and from midday mainly to central and eastern areas, with possible thunderstorms in places. The wind will still be light on Saturday night, but during Saturday daytime and on Sunday it will pick up slightly, blowing slowly to moderately from the south. Minimum temperatures at night will be around +14…+19°C, with a few degrees lower in places on Saturday night. Daytime temperatures will rise to +22…+27°C, and locally up to +29°C on Saturday.
At the beginning and middle of next week, a cyclone is expected to determine the weather, bringing an increase in precipitation and cooler air. Winds will remain mostly light. Daytime highs will reach +16…+21°C, except on Monday when it will be a few degrees warmer in places in central regions.
