NATO Summit in Ankara to Pledge Billions in Military Aid to Ukraine
NATO allies will commit to 70 billion euros per year for two years to support Ukraine, according to DPA sources. European countries will provide most of the funding as the US has reduced its aid.

At the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara, the alliance is expected to officially approve a massive military aid package for Ukraine. According to the DPA news agency, citing informed sources, allies will commit to 70 billion euros per year over two years.
On Friday, ambassadors of all 32 NATO member states backed the aid plan during a meeting in Brussels. About 40 billion euros annually will come from national budgets. NATO leaders are expected to formally confirm the decision on Wednesday in Ankara.
Funding will primarily come from European NATO members and Canada, as the United States under President Donald Trump has significantly reduced its financial support for Ukraine. Germany has already announced 11.5 billion euros for 2026.
DPA notes that NATO has recently supported Ukraine through the PURL program, which involves purchasing US weapons with European funds. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to attend the summit as a guest. Allies, including the US, are also expected to recognize Russia as a long-term threat to Euro-Atlantic security.
