Musician Indulis Pēcis keeps playing in an orchestra despite worsening eyesight
Indulis Pēcis is a fourth-generation musician. Deteriorating eyesight forced him to change careers, but music stayed in his life and he still plays in an orchestra.

The Latvian public media portal LSM has published an interview with musician Indulis Pēcis, who represents the fourth generation of musicians in his family. The headline highlights his words: "Blind does not mean stupid." In the conversation he talks about playing in an orchestra and about being able to laugh at himself.
Music in the family
Pēcis's great-grandfather played the harmonica, his grandfather played in an orchestra, and his father was a music teacher and the leader of a school orchestra. Music has thus been part of the family's life across several generations.
A career change and everyday life
Worsening eyesight made Indulis change his profession, but music stayed with him afterwards. He still plays in an orchestra today. He travels from Cēsis to Riga on his own, without an assistant.
