Archaeologist Ilze Biruta Loze, widely regarded as one of the most outstanding researchers of the Stone Age in the Baltic region, has died on August 10 at the age of 90.
The news was shared by the Institute of Latvian History at the University of Latvia (LU) on its Facebook page.
Loze was a corresponding member of the Latvian Academy of Sciences. Her long career in archaeology, particularly in the study of the Stone Age, left a significant mark on scholarship in the Baltic region.
